Henry Martin Timm

March 27, 1935 – September 27, 2018

 

Henry died Thursday, September 27, 2018 from natural causes at home. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Kathryn (Schneider) Timm, his sisters Genevieve, Edith Marie, Kathleen, and his brother Bill.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne (Schmidt) Timm; his sister, Betty Kulish; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Sawyer; his children, Kathy (Dan O’Fallon), Jim (Mary Kay), and Paul (Cassandra); grandchildren, Patrick (Jenny), Genny, Beth, Claire, Brigid, Tony, and Josh; great-grandchild Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was born at his parent’s home in Sheridan, Wyoming on March 27, 1935.  He worked at the Sheridan Inn Dining Room during his high school years.  In 1955 he went to work for Shell Oil on a seismograph crew which led him to Dickinson, North Dakota, where he met Joanne. They married on October 31, 1959. The next spring, they moved back to Sheridan and he returned to work at the Sheridan Inn Dining Room.  In January 1966, they decided to move to Billings where he purchased Leo’s Upholstery which he ran until his retirement in 1995.  Among many things accomplished while running the business, he sponsored a Western Giants Little League team for many years, proudly displaying the team photos at the shop.

In his retirement years, Henry volunteered with the Veteran’s Administration, driving veterans to the VA hospitals in Miles City and Helena for treatment.  After several years and winning service awards, he retired from that as well.

Henry was a member of the Riverside Optimists Club in his younger years, a life member of the Benevolent Order of Elks, and a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.

Services will be held on October 20, 2018 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M in Billings. Reception will follow after the service in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Elks, Meals on Wheels or the charity of your choice.
