Tamra Lynne Rector

Tamra Lynne Partyka Rector was called to her forever home with the angels on May 27th after a brief battle with cancer.  Tami was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.

Tami was the first child of Don and Donna Partyka and was born on March 19, 1959, in Minot, North Dakota.  Tami spent her childhood in both North Dakota and Montana, graduating from high school in Plentywood, MT in 1977.

In 1980 Tami married Jack LaBorde in Lewistown, MT.  They divorced 12 years later and Tami met the love of her life, James “Bud” Rector.  They married in 1997, and out of that marriage sweet Zoie was born and became Tami’s best friend.  Zoie and Tami had many adventures together.  The one Zoie remembers best is Tami’s dream concert in Fargo, ND, where they saw Kid Rock and Bob Seger.  Tami never quit talking about that trip and the concert that she, Zoie, and Bud were able to enjoy together.

Tami’s heart was huge! She opened her home to anybody who needed it and was “mom” to so many people.  Everybody knew that Tami’s home was their home and that they were welcome anytime.

Tami enjoyed many genres of music but her favorite artists were Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles.  Tami’s love for art was passed on to her youngest niece, Nicole Hammond.  Tami’s creativity was a blessing to so many people and she loved to share her artwork.  Family was so important to Tami and she loved big family gatherings.  Christmas was her favorite holiday and everybody looked forward to her “bag of gifts” and unique presents.

Life for Tami didn’t revolve around a clock….a lesson we could all learn from her.  “Tami time” drove everybody crazy but it’s the thing we will miss the most at our family gatherings.  No more deciding if we should eat, or wait for Tami.

In January, Tami found out that Zoie would be blessing her with her first grandchild.  Tami was so looking forward to being a grandma and she will always be Zoie and baby’s special guardian angel.

Tami is survived by her precious daughter Zoie; father, Don; brother Brad (Sheila); sister Lisa Hammond (Barry) and her special nieces Cassandra, Haylee, Nicole and Michelle and her nephew Derrick. Also, her great nieces and nephews Brayxton, Maverik, Emerald, Layla, Wednesday, Amaya, Axel and Rayne.  She is also survived by one aunt, Agnes (Harold) and numerous cousins.

Tami was preceded in death by her mom, Donna, and her true love, Bud Rector.  They were both waiting for her with open arms as she made her journey into Heaven.

Services will be held at Heights Family Funeral Home at 11 am on Friday, June 1, 2018. At Tami’s request, please wear bright colors and no black.

Memorials can be made to Lisa Hammond at 1327 Cortez Ave., Billings MT 59105.  A fund is being established for Zoie and her baby.
