Donovan Lee Partyka, 83, was called to his forever home on December 12, 2019.  He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.

Dad was born in Underwood, ND on August 24, 1936.  He attended Garrison High School and enlisted in the Navy after graduation in 1954.  Dad served on the USS Nereus as an active duty serviceman from June 1954 through August 1957 and remained in the Navy Reserves until June 1962. Upon returning to Garrison in 1957 Dad married Donna, who was the love of his life.  Dad worked in lumber retail for most of his adult life and retired from United Building Center.

Dad loved many things in life but the things that meant the most to him were his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.  Spending time with his family was his favorite thing to do.  He also had three other loves and these were things that he shared with his children and grandchildren. His love for billiards, Spring Creek Colony and Fort Peck Lake are all things that his children have enjoyed as well.  Dad played on numerous pool leagues and his pool family meant the world to him.  Dad also spent many hours fishing and hunting at Spring Creek Colony. During those years he met some of his best friends including Katie, Jim and Kathy Walter.  Summers were spent at Fort Peck Lake fishing and having so much fun around the campfire.  These are all things that he truly loved and the things we will all remember as part of his legacy.

Most people will remember our dad’s sparkling blue eyes and his infectious smile. We will remember dad as the most wonderful man that ever lived.  He taught us so many things and devoted so much of his life to his kids. Dad never met a stranger and he had a genuine love for people and cared deeply about the people that he was close to.

Dad is survived by his son Brad (Sheila) Partyka; daughter Lisa (Barry) Hammond; his special grandkids Michelle, Derrick, Cassie, Haylee, Zoie and Nicole.  He also had eleven great grandkids.  Dad also had a very special sweetheart, Karen Grimm, who meant the world to him.  Dad cared very deeply for Michael Gomez (Cassie’s fiancé) who helped Cassie care for dad during the last 7 months of his life. Cassie and Michael opened up their home to dad and provided him with the most precious care.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lydia; two sisters, Shirley and Elaine; his wife, Donna; and his daughter Tami.
