Mrs. Betty Knudson Nordgren, 89, of Billings, Montana, went to be with our heavenly father on Friday, December 1, 2017.

Betty, one of 10 children, was born on July 18, 1928, in Peerless, Montana, and was named Elizabeth Jane Knudson. She married William “Bill” Michel (now deceased) and together they had three daughters. They made their home in Scobey, Montana where they owned and operated a local restaurant “The Dairy-O”.  After selling the restaurant, they then opened “Bill and Betty’s Variety Store” in 1963 and ran it for 21 years.

After the passing of Bill Michel, she married Norman W. Nordgren in 2003 and they lived in Scobey, Montana, until his passing on September 3, 2005. Betty then moved to Billings, Montana to be closer to more of her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Josephine Knudson; oldest daughter Mrs. Margaret “Mugz” Jacobson, brother Lyle Knudson, and sisters Dolly Martin and Karen Haughrud.  She is survived by her two daughters, Ms. Kathy A. Michel of Jamestown, N.C. and Mrs. Meri Jo Dorsey of Kodak, Tenn.; brothers Bill Knudson, Alan Knudson, and Dave Knudson; sisters Sandra Kessler, Lois Kaatz, and Bonnie Beck; sisters –in-law Sandy Knudson and Lore Knudson; son-in-law Clyde Jacobson; grand-children Cody Jacobson, his wife Michele Jacobson and Caitlin Farver, her husband Lee Farver; and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request that you consider making memorial contributions to Aspen Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center where Betty received care until her death. You may contact Gayle Mallak at 3155 Avenue C, Billings, Montana 59102 for more details.

Our deepest thanks go to the staff of Aspen Meadows as well as friends and family who have so graciously and kindly supported us through this difficult time.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time but Heights Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

Betty will be deeply missed.
