Frank Hert, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love of his life, Darlene Andrea Hert Sunday morning, May 19th, 2019. He was born to George and Edith Hert on October 15th, 1935 in Hardin, MT. He grew up on a farm near St. Xavier, MT.
Frank enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1954 through 1957. After serving his country, he worked for Armco Steel and later Montana Radiator Works. He was a Radiator Repairman for most of his career. He met Darlene Andrea Hanson and they married in 1958. Frank was a loving father to Frank Hert, Jr. and Jeff Hert. Dad loved to fish, hunt and camp. The family spent many weekends camping near McCleod, MT. and fishing the Boulder River. There were many hunting trips to Checkerboard and Gardiner for elk, and north of Roundup for antelope and game birds. After retiring, he loved to spend time mowing his yard on his riding lawnmower and keeping his yard greener than most golf courses. During fall, he was known to actively complain about all those leaves that he continually kept mowing! He loved spending time with Darlene and he would take her to many garage sales. When Darlene passed away in 2014 he was never quite the same and often talked about going to be with her. Dad spent the last few weeks of his life in the loving care of the staff of RiverStone Health Hospice. Their comments of how kind and loving he was toward them reflect the father we will always remember. Rest peacefully and remember your promise to say hello to Jesus and mom for us!
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Hert and his step mother Ruby and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons, Frank Hert, Jr. and Jeff Hert (Wanda). He is also survived by his brother Gary Hert (Sandra), grandchildren Jennifer Brown (Colin), Andrea Garrard (Michael), Michelle Hert, Angie Eastman (Josh) and Lucas Hert, as well as several great grandchildren.
A memorial service for Frank will take place on Thursday, May 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Heights Family Funeral Home, 733 West Wicks Lane. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RiverStone Health Foundation, 123 S. 27th St., Billings, MT 59101 in memory of Frank Hert, Sr.
