Marvin W. Dunster, 67 of Billings, passed away on December 21, 2019. Marv was born on June 16, 1952 in Klamath Falls, OR, the son of Wilford and Guadalupe Dunster. He was raised in Klamath Falls where he graduated from High School in 1970. As a youngster, Marvin played baseball, which he truly enjoyed, even going on to coach baseball. He loved to fish the beloved streams of Oregon and Montana and enjoyed hunting with family and friends. He enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served for 6 years before being honorably discharged in 1976.
Marv moved to Billings in the early 90’s with aspirations of going to college. He ended up working as a meat cutter and later a rancher raising sheep and livestock. A scary situation occurred when Marv’s sheep were attached and killed by domestic dogs. This would change the course of his life. Following this event, the insurance company bought Marv his first Guard Dog to protect his sheep and the rest is history. His love of animals and knowledge of training guard dogs allowed him to begin 5/R Stock Dogs. Marvin met Carrie Bigelow in Billings, and together they would form a bond lasting 13 years. Together they worked with their animals and were able to provide their services to customers in 27 states and 4 Canadian Providences. Their love for animals made their working relationship very special. His skill with his dogs and the knowledge of the industry will be missed.
Marvin was preceded in death by his father Wilford Dunster. He is survived by his mother Guadalupe Dunster of Billings; his wife Carrie Bigelow of Billings; sister Anita Palms; and his children Ryan Dunster, Megan Jordan, Erin Crooks, Karen Lyons; 15 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held in the Spring of 2020. More information will be available in the future.
