On March 7, 2019 Dr. Gilbert (Gil) V. Cady left this life to join his loved ones on the other side. Undoubtedly he was greeted by his beloved dog, Rambo, as well as his mother, father, and two of his three brothers.

Gil grew up in sunny California, spending his days soaking up the sun. He graduated high school and went on to attend the University of Southern California. He then went on to attend Stanford University where he received his Ph.D. This is also where he met the love of his life, Frances. Gil and Fran were married on February 11, 1961. Gil went on to work as a Petroleum Engineer in the oil fields of California, Texas, and Calgary. In 1982 he accepted a job at Montana Tech as a Professor of Petroleum Engineering where he spent the remainder of his working days until he retired in 2004.

Together Gil and Fran have 3 loving children: Two sons; Michael and Jonathan, and one daughter; Laura. Gil was the best dad anyone could ask for. He was always patient and kind, even when we didn’t deserve it. He led with love and followed it with laughter. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t give us a reason to smile. In this life, we truly were the lucky ones. He filled his grandkids’ lives with a love that couldn’t be questioned. Treating each of them just how he treated us.

Gil passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him. He left on his terms, making sure that his wife could say her final goodbye before he passed.

He leaves behind his wife, Fran Cady, brother, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and other family and friends too extensive to list. It is a great loss for this world, but we take comfort in knowing he is at peace watching over us.

Cremation has taken place at Heights Family Funeral Home. At this time, no services have been planned.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, two causes that were near and dear to his heart.
