On Saturday, May 19, 2018, Heaven gained a beautiful soul. Wayne E. Andersen passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Wayne was born to Gladys (Schwend) and Gordon Andersen on March 19, 1932. Wayne graduated from Bridger High School in 1950. He met the love of his life, LaDonna Stringari, at a country dance and the couple were married on Dec. 26, 1951. As newlyweds, Wayne was drafted into the Army and served 18 months overseas with the Trust Command, earning the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged, Wayne returned home to his wife and first son, Everett. In 1954, Wayne and LaDonna moved to Glendive, where Wayne began working for Oil Basin Pipeline, which later became Cenex. While there, Wayne and LaDonna welcomed their son, Stuart, daughter, Toni, and youngest child, Mark. Wayne’s career with Cenex prompted a move to Laurel, where Wayne designed his family’s future home. With his wife’s help, Wayne built their house from the ground up. The Andersens also owned and operated Wayne’s Body Shop for several years. Wayne retired from Cenex Pipeline in 1995 after 40 years of service. After retirement, Wayne and LaDonna purchased a home in Yuma, Arizona where they wintered for 19 years. While in Yuma, Wayne thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends and racing his sandrail through the Sonoran Desert. The Andersens returned to Montana full time in 2014 and became members of the Holy Spirit Anglican Church of Billings. Wayne was a jack of all trades and a master of all. He was always willing to lend his talents to anyone in need as there was nothing that he couldn’t build or repair. His answer to any question or problem that needed tackled was, “I ‘pose.” Wayne passed his tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and mechanical abilities to his children and grandchildren. Wayne’s first priority and greatest passion was his wife of 66 years, Ladonna, and his family. To those who loved him, a greater man was never known. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication and many happy memories.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved youngest son, Mark, his parents, Gordon and Gladys, and his brother, Jim.
Wayne is survived by his wife, LaDonna, sons, Everett and Stuart/Kobi, and daughter, Toni/David; his grandchildren, Melissa/Andie, Michael, Nicole, Joe, Josh, Ashli/Jimmy, Spencer, Rhys/Emily, and Cerena; and his great grandchildren, Teah, Ashton, Brooklyn, and Serenity.
The Andersen family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Klundt, the staff of St. Vincent’s Intensive Care Unit, Advanced Care, and Compassus Hospice of Billings.
